History of TFBnet

TFBnet had its humble beginnings as part of The File Bank Bulletin Board System (BBS) in 1993. What started out as a value-added service to our BBS customers grew into a full-blown Internet Service Provider (ISP) by 1994. The primary means of connecting to the Internet in those early days was via dial-up modems. Our main competition was AOL and Compuserve. We thrived because we concentrated in those areas that the “big boys” didn’t - remote areas of the country where it just didn’t pay for the “big boys” to play.

Today, DSL and T1 access to the Internet is the norm, though dial-up access is still alive and kicking. We continue to target those remote areas of the country (all of our connectivity services are available in all 50 states), but service the “big cities” as well. We have expanded our services beyond just connectivity to include web hosting, server co-location, telephone long distance, and carry-in computer service for those homes and small offices local to our Fallbrook, California offices.

Our motto of “Small Town Service, Big City Connections” underscores our commitment to providing top notch service and support while offering all the services one would expect from an ISP many times larger than TFBnet.

Listed below is a short summary of the services we currently provide. Following that is a complete description of our service and support departments including contact information.

Services:

Nationwide Dial-Up. Supporting v.90 56K modems across all 50 states. Discounts are available for family or business accounts.

Turbo Dial-Up. An add-on to our dial-up service that enables speeds up to 330K with your existing modem.

Nationwide Broadband services including ADSL, SDSL, IDSL, T1 and Frame Relay, for both the home and office. ADSL is perfect for the lighter demands of home and small business users. SDSL is our workhorse service with synchronous speeds from 192K to 2.3MB. If you have been told that you are "too far" for DSL, check out our specialty IDSL service. Our IDSL has double the distance capabilities of any other DSL service. Our T1 and Frame Relay services are for our most demanding customers or those "too far" for even our IDSL service.

Junk Email and Virus Filtering. An add-on feature for all of our connectivity services, this can protect your computer from email-based viruses and eliminate up to 95% of junk email.

Web-Based Access to your Email Account. For those times when you are away from your own computer, our web-based service provides access to your email account. This service is included with all of our Internet connectivity accounts.

Hosting Services including domain name registration and hosting, personal and business web hosting and server co-location. Our powerful servers and high-speed connection directly to the Internet provide ultra-fast response times for your domain name, web hosting needs and co-location needs.

Long Distance Telephone Services. Save up to 70% on your long distance with rates as low as 3.9 cents / minute for in-state and 4.5 cents / minute for state-to-state calls. Other services include incredibly low toll-free rates, calling cards and fantastic international long distance rates.

Support:

TFBnet may be a small company when compared to some other Internet Service Providers, but our smaller size allows us to react quickly and maintain high standards of service and support. Our Customer Service department is well versed in the types of Internet services we provide and how those services can be best utilized by our customers.

Our Technical Support department is staffed by knowledgeable and helpful technicians. Job #1 for our tech support staff is solving our customer’s problems, no matter how large or small they may be. They provide solutions not only for Internet problems, but also go to great lengths to suggest overall computer solutions and ways for customers to get the most out of the Internet and their computer systems. We even offer a carry-in computer service that offers troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, overhauls and tune-ups (for TFBnet  and non-TFBnet customers alike).

Our tech support department is backed-up by two other assets that you will not always find with the typical ISP – our Information Technology department and our sister company Data Management Systems. Our IT department monitors our operations around the clock to ensure that everything is working at its peak performance. The IT department is also responsible for implementing the latest in Internet and connectivity technologies.

Data Management Systems (760-728-0984) is our ace in the hole. Recently celebrating its 20th anniversary, DMS provides computer, network and software sales, on-site service and repairs, installation, on-going support and works hand-in-glove with TFBnet to design and implement Internet solutions for the business environment.
