Dial-Up (California Network)
- Getting Started -
This section will help you download, install
and run the Turbo Dial-Up end-user software program. The software program, called
"SlipStream Web Accelerator" is provided to TFBnet by SlipStream Data. If you'd
prefer more detailed step-by-step installation instructions, click here.
The minimum system requirements are a Pentium 200MHz (or equivalent) with 64MB RAM, at
least 5MB of hard-drive space. The SlipStream Web Accelerator software works with Internet
Explorer 4.0 (or later) and Netscape Communicator 4.0 (or later), Opera, Mozilla and any
other browser that allows you to specify a HTTP proxy.
1. Download.
- If you are dialing a 1191 number click here.
- If you are dialing a 0155 number click here.
- If you are unsure which number you are dialing or are using a different number please feel free to call technical support at 888-211-1674 Ext 151.
Please note that you must sign up for our Turbo Dial-Up service before it will be
activated for your account. Using the service requires a different dial-up number as well
as configuring your account in our system. Although the dial-up number must be changed in
your dial-up software, it will remain a local call for you. Please contact our customer
service or technical support department, for configuration information and activation
before attempting to use Turbo Dial-Up, at 888-211-1674 or by email at customerservice@tfb.com or techsupport@tfb.com.
2. Install.
- On your Desktop you will find an icon called
"SlipStreamInstallerO1".
- Double-click the icon to start the
installation procedure.
- Once the installation finishes you will be
prompted for a username and password. We do not require a username or password to operate
the software. Ensure that the "Username" and "Password" fields are
blank and the "Save password (Recommended)" option is checked. Click the OK
button to save your settings.
3. Starting SlipStream.
- SlipStream Web Accelerator is automatically
started when your computer starts up.
- Acceleration will begin as soon as a
supported browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape) or a supported email program
(such as Microsoft Outlook or Eudora) is started.
- On some Windows platforms a bubble icon will
appear when SlipStream Web Accelerator service has been established. On all other
Windows platforms, you can verify that the SlipStream Web Accelerator service has been
established by hovering over the SlipStream tray icon (you should see a "SlipStream
Service Enabled..." message).
4. Using SlipStream.
- Browse the web or download email as you
normally would.
- Your web access or email access will be
automatically accelerated by SlipStream Web Accelerator.
- If you desire to stop the application, select
Stop SlipStream from the pop-up menu, or if you desire to exit the application completely,
click Exit from the pop-up menu.
